Rinat Kaziev, Claims Director, Aviation Insurance Division, "SP Malakut". Rinat has been handling all losses of such airlines as UTair, S7, Taimyr, SCAT, IrAero, Yakutia and many others. Rinat also devotes a lot of time to additional work with clients, participation in specialized seminars and conferences, improvement of the claims settlement process, legal support on various insurance issues, monitoring of insurance legislation, etc.
Bakhyt Tukulov, Partner, Head of Dispute Resolution department at GRATA International. He focuses on litigation (commercial and administrative, including in aid of domestic and foreign arbitrations), arbitration in Kazakhstan and abroad, pre-dispute settlement negotiations, enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and judicial acts, legal due diligence, legal advice on the structuring of transactions from dispute resolution perspective (choice of law, forum, investment treaty protection, jurisdictional matters), legal support in the course of audits of state authorities.
Nick Humphrey is a partner in Kennedys’ Dubai office where he leads the aviation and transport practice in the Middle East. Nick specialises in aviation liability claims, dispute resolution, aviation regulatory and commercial law. He has been based in Dubai for almost 10 years and previously worked in-house as a legal advisor at Emirates Group and senior legal counsel at defence logistics provider Supreme Group overseeing the aviation and logistics divisions’ end-to-end supply chain operation for the NATO and US forces in Afghanistan. Prior to moving to the Middle East Nick was a partner of one of Australia’s preeminent aviation law firms.
Nick is particularly experienced in complex cross-border court litigation, arbitration and aviation liability claims across various challenging and austere jurisdictions most recently including Somalia and Afghanistan.
Nick is the current chairperson and co-founder of the Royal Aeronautical Society’s Air Law Group - Middle East Chapter and is a director of the Australian Business Council of Dubai.
Alexandra Rodina is a partner based in Kennedys' London office who specialises in aviation insurance. Her area of practice comprises handling of all types of aviation liability claims, including management of complex multi-jurisdictional claims, baggage, cargo, hull, personal injury and general aviation business. She has experience of legal systems throughout the world but with an emphasis on Russia, former Soviet Union countries and Eastern Europe.
She is lead Counsel handling claims arising from the following major accidents: Cubana Reg XA-UHZ at Havana (2018), Metrojet, Reg EI-ETJ at Egypt (2015), and Tatarstan Airlines, B737-500 at Kazan (2013). Alexandra played an active role in the handling of claims arising from the following major losses: Aeroflot, B737-500 at Perm (2008); Sibir, A310 at Irkutsk (2006); KAM Air, B737-200 near Kabul (2005); UM Air, YAK-42D Turkey (2003); Sibir, TU154 Black Sea (2001); Vlad Avia, TU154 at Irkutsk (2001); and Aeroflot A310 at Mezhdurechensk (1994).
Alexandra is recognised in the London Aviation Insurance Market as the ‘go to lawyer’ for aviation claims in Russia, countries of CIS and Eastern Europe.
She is a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers and the Russian Association of Aviation and Space Insurers (RAASI), and regularly lectures on aviation and insurance topics and contributes to The Aviation Law Review publication.
Peng Lim is a Partner, Global Head of Aviation in Kennedys. She has been advising clients on aviation matters ranging from high-profile, complex, multi-jurisdictional disputes to routine claims and regulatory/contractual matters for over 28 years.
She has handled the majority of high profile aviation catastrophic losses in Asia in the last 14 years.
Peng is the go-to lawyer for the aviation insurance markets in Europe and Asia for aviation defence work. She has pre-eminent expertise in South-East Asia, Taiwan and Australasia.
Her recent high profile cases include the Lion Air crash in Indonesia, as well as the airline crash in Federated States of Micronesia, both cases are publicized widely in the news.
Peng is recognised as a thought leader in Who’s Who Legal : Thought Leaders – Global Elite 2019 and as a leading practitioner in her field in the Guide to the World’s Leading Aviation Lawyers as well as in Chambers Asia Pacific and is a contributor to the 4th edition of Margo on Aviation Insurance. She also co-authored the Singapore section of the Aviation Law Review (4th ed).
