Entrepreneurs whose activities are related to the manufacture, importation or exportation of food commodities and food products are often faced with the problem of determining the standard of an acceptable content of certain food additives in products they produce including a variety of food grade dye and emulsifiers.
Food safety in Kazakhstan is regulated by the Law 'On food safety' dated 21 July 2007. The Law establishes requirements for the usage of raw materials and food additives, which must conform to standards established by the legislation of the RK on food safety.
Hygienic standards of safety and the nutritional value of food products are indicated in the sanitary rules 'Sanitary Requirements for Food Products' approved by order of the Minister of Health № 611 on 6 August 2010. The sanitary rules include a list of supplements that don't have harmful effects on human health. These supplements are permitted for usage in the Republic of Kazakhstan. However, the sanitary rules do not set permissible levels of these food supplements in food. Therefore a lot of food producers have difficulty in choosing the best indicator of the content of certain food additives in the products they produce. Thus, the assistance of qualified lawyers in these situations is indispensable.
