Kyzal-Orda (kazakh - Қызылорда) is a city in Kazakhstan, administrative centre of the Kyzyl-Orda region. The city is located in the south part of the Republic on Syr Darya river, 830 km far from Astana.

Minerals are one of the most attractive areas of investment. Kyzyl-Orda region has significant potential in term of mineral resources, including oil, gas, ores, uranium, and salt. There are also reserves of lead, zinc, cadmium, germanium, gold, silver, selenium, iron, lignite, oil shale, brown iron, phosphorus, molybdenum and vanadium-titanium and zirconium ores.
In addition, there are widespread non-metallic minerals: loam brick, expanded clay materials, sand and gravel material, sand for construction and silicate products, building stone, limestone for lime production.
There are unique deposits of table salt (the northern coast of the Aral Sea and a hollow, lakes adjoining to it).
The mineral waters of Zhanakorgan deposits and famous therapeutic muds of Teresken lake, as well as promising areas of therapeutic mud of Sor lake, give all the prerequisites for the development of a network of health resorts.
The region has suspended objects. At present the important thing for the region is the prospect of the resumption of Shalkiya lead-zinc mine, which would have a replacing effect and would entail the development of related industries.
Business Opportunities on Kyzal-Orda Market
In autumn 2012, Kyzylorda first held the investment forum "Silk Way", which brought together a record number of visitors. The forum was attended by about three hundred people, including foreign investors, representatives of ministries, national companies and financial institutes, international founds, and entrepreneurs.
The organisers showed investors and financial institutions the region potential, offered for consideration a number of promising projects. For some projects they signed Memoranda. In particular, they reached a preliminary agreement with the management of Sivelko Rus LLP to build a plant for the enrichment of quartz sand. Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC and certain other financial institutions approved a number of industrial projects. In order to search for and study of reserves, Akimat of the region and Kazgeologiya signed a memorandum of cooperation. Understanding was reached with oil companies, which intended to invest in the implementation of investment projects. Also, they informed about the measures taken by the region management to attract investors to the project ‘Construction of the Glass Plant’.
The main result of the forum was that Kazyna Capital Management JSC invested 130 mln US Dollars in the economy of the Kyzyl-Orda region, they are interested in the energy production and reconstruction. One of the company's goals is to increase the investment activity of private domestic and foreign capital in non-resource sectors of the Kazakhstani economy and to create competitive industries.
Today, the Kyzyl-Orda region has an important task - the reconstruction of the existing TPP. In addition, they plan to build the new power plant operated on solid fuels. Moreover, the region is ready to consider offers from strategic partner, who will be willing to enter into a joint capital of KREK JSC, which is 100%-owned by the state. There is an intention to implement a number of large projects. They include Shalkiya field with rich zinc and other ores reserves, construction of a glass plant, mining and processing plant to enrich silica sand, project to produce soda ash, cement, etc. The energy intensity of the region will only grow in the future.
There are other projects, including the transport and logistics centers in the region. The plans of the region include a great project for the removal of Kyzyl-Orda railway station outside of the territory of the regional centre.
Overall, the Forum resulted in signing eight memoranda. Five of them relate to the allocation of innovation grants, and three - to investments in large projects in the region as a part of the state program of the forced industrial-innovative development.
