On 23—24 September 2003 an international seminar entitled «Regional Central Asian Cooperation in the Energy Sector and the Role of the Energy Charter» was held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).

The seminar was organized by the Government of Uzbekistan together with the Energy Charter Secretariat.

The objective of the seminar the establishment of a dialogue between the representatives of Governments, enterprises, and international organizations concerning Central Asia's potential as an energy supplier to the world market and investment opportunities.

Representatives of the Governments and Ministries of Central Asia, Iran, Turkey, China, Korea and other countries participated in the Seminar, and the heads of national and international companies working in the energy sector were invited to take part in the event.
