GRATA Law Firm and Ashurst (an international law firm) are delighted to announce a joint seminar on Oil and Gas Projects in the Caspian and Central Asia to be held at Ashurst's offices in London on 19 April 2004.
Relatively high oil prices, continuing conflict in the Middle East, the need to diversify sources of energy supply and a steadily growing global energy demand make Caspian and Central Asian oil and gas more and more important in the world market. Despite the increasing importance of Caspian and Central Asian reserves (comparable to the North Sea in quantity), the countries of the region have to make significant efforts to attract foreign investment.
The seminar focuses on the main oil and gas projects in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, and will provide analysis of the key challenges facing foreign investors. The Kazakh offshore oil development programme is examined in detail, and we discuss some preliminary results and lessons learnt. The likely privatization of UzbekNefteGas, the state oil and gas holding company of Uzbekistan, and other related issues, will also be addressed. The speakers include HE The Kazakhstan Ambassador to the UK, Mr Erlan Idrissov, and partners and senior lawyers from Ashurst and GRATA Law Firm.
The seminar will be of interest to managers of medium and small size oil companies, suppliers of goods and services to the oil and gas sector, in-house legal and tax advisers, bankers and others with interest in the oil and gas sector of the Caspian and Central Asia. The participation is free subject to prior registration.
The seminar will be held in Ashursts office, at Broadwalk House, 5 Appold Street, London, EC2A 2HA and followed by caviar and vodka reception. Registration will start at 3.45 pm.
