On May 27—28, 2004 the Round Table «The Oil and Gas Potential and Macroeconomic Policy of Kazakhstan. Mobilization of investments of 2nd generation» was held. The event was organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan with support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the Embassy of France in Kazakhstan, the MFA of Norway and Kazinvest, the Kazakhstan Investment Promotion Center.
The representatives of state bodies of RK and others states, the International Energy Agency, the delegates form the embassies of foreign countries, EBRD, World Bank and major foreign oil and servicing companies were present at the event.
The objective of the Roundtable was to analyze the current status of Kazakhstan as a country producing oil, the role of Kashagan, oil transportation and new tariffs fixation. There was discussed the issue of sustainable energy sector investment that takes account of domestic economic development and stable revenue flows for the national budget while at the same time stimulating a next wave of second generation investment into Kazakhstan. The discussion of the issues on the National Oil Fund being administered by the National Bank of RK, funds expenditures and profits attracted much attention, as well. The question of forming Investors` and Kazakh enterprises on purchases' unified register was raised in the frame of the round table.
The representatives of GRATA Law Firm (i. e. Akhmetzhan Abdullayev, Managing Partner, and Saule Akhmetova, Partner) took part in the Round table. In the frame of the event they met with top-managers and representatives of major international banks, oil companies, TNC and others.
