On September 29—30, 2004 the conference on «Trade Finance in the Black and Caspian regions» was held in Istanbul, Turkey. The representatives of financial institutions, oil companies, banks, insurance companies, rating agencies, finance consultants etc. from many countries participated in the conference. The representatives from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan took part in the event, as well.

The GRATA's Managing Partner Akhmetzhan Abdullayev spoke on the «Overcoming Legal Uncertainties and Restricted legislation to trade in Kazakhstan» at the conference. The legal framework for currency regulation, export and import and certain financial instruments in Kazakhstan were outlined there; the evaluation of the main risks involved in international trade transactions was given and methods of reducing creditor's risks were proposed in the speech.
