On 13 January 2005 a delegation of Indian businessmen, accompanying the Minister of Trade and Industry of India Mr. I. Ilangovan, came to Almaty. The inauguration of the Kazakhstani-Indian business forum was held in the Regent-Ankara Hotel. Companies operating in various spheres (including medical equipment, pharmacy, equipment for the food industry and many others) were presented at the forum. Later that day individual talks and meetings with Indian businessmen were organized.

The event was jointly organised by the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Republic of Kazakhstan and the Embassy of India to Kazakhstan.

This event attracted much attention within Kazakhstani business circles. GRATA lawyers also took part in the forum where they established new contacts with a number of leading Indian companies.
