On May 19-20, 2005 a conference entitled «the CIS Bond Congress» was held in Almaty. The event was organized by the «Cbonds» Information Agency with the support of the KASE. This Congress attracted much attention of participants of financial market, business circles both from the CIS and abroad.

Participants included representatives of stock exchanges (Moscow currency-stock exchange), experts of securities market and banks' representatives (TuranAlem Securities, VISOR investment solutions, Raiffeisen Bank, ATF Bank, Alfa-Bank, Vneshtorgbank and others), rating agencies (Standard & Poor's, Expert RA) and consulting firms.

The representatives of GRATA Law firm who specialize in financial issues and banking, participated in the event, too. They are: Mr. Amir Tussupkhanov, Partner, Mr. Arkadiy Kudabayev, Senior lawyer and Mr. Aituar Madin, Lawyer.

In total, about 280 Kazakhstani and foreign companies were represented.

The agenda was focused on discussing the development of bond market and government regulation of the Kazakhstan bond market; legal framework and aspects of the market; current condition of the CIS bond market, Securities issuance by means of assets securitization etc.

In the frame of the Congress a roundtable entitled «Outlooks of Eurobond market for CIS issuers» was held. Furthermore, the event provided a splendid opportunity to get acquainted with the current condition of bond market in Azerbaijan, Belorus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Uzbekistan.

The level of interest in the Congress has demonstrated the steady development of the bond market of Kazakhstan and its raising appeal for international capital.
