On May 31, 2005 on the territory of the City Park of Culture and Entertainment the competitions for the disabled children were held. The event was dedicated to the International Day of Protection of Children. The competitions were organized by the Almaty branch of the Special Olympics Kazakhstan with the sponsor support of GRATA Law Firm among other Kazakhstani companies.

In the frame of the event sports competitions, various routes provided in the park, treatment with sweets, ice scream and refreshments were offered to the participants.

The aim of the Special Olympics through its sports event is the eagerness to help its athletes strengthen their health, increase their level of self-estimation and take part in the social life of our society.
