Conference «Kazakhstan Draws a New wave of Investment: Strategies for Diversification and Sustainable Growth»

 

On June 14-16, 2005 a conference entitled «Kazakhstan Draws a New wave of Investment: Strategies for Diversification and Sustainable Growth» was held in the Regent Almaty, the Ankara hotel, Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The event was organized by the Asia Society with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Eurasian Media Forum. The conference attracted much attention of the world society. Participants included President of the Republic of Kazakhstan H. E. Mr. N. Nazarbayev, the heads of Ministries both from the RK and from other countries (Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Russia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and others), managers of national and foreign companies, financial institutions and banks (KazMunayGas, Exxon Mobil, Kazakhtelecom, Petro Kazkahstan, National Bank of RK, KazKommerzBank, ABN Amro, World Bank, HSBC Bank, Moody's Investor Service, ORIX Copr. and others) and consulting, law and auditing firms (Deloitte and Touche, KPMG, Coudert Brothers and others). The Managing Partners of GRATA Law Firm, Tlek Baigabulov and Aidar Sarymsakov, took part at the conference, as well.

In total, more than 400 participants attended the event.

The agenda was focused on getting participants acquainted with the opportunities and advantages of investing in Kazakhstan, with the process of building a sustainable base for a diversified market economy, financial sector strength in Kazakhstan. The event also provided a splendid opportunity to communicate with the key participants of those processes.

During a coffee-break Managing Partner of GRATA Law Firm Mr. Aidar Sarymsakov had the honour to meet the President of RK H. E. Mr. N. Nazarbayev. Mr. Aidar Sarymsakov told the President about the activity of GRATA. In the whole, the level of interest in the conference demonstrated the steady growth of regional cooperation on trade and investments, the path forward to further diversification of the market of RK and its appeal for international capital.
