On October 4-7, 2005 Almaty (Kazakhstan) hosted the 13th Kazakhstan International Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference KIOGE 2005, one of the major events in the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
The event was organised by the international exhibition company ITE Group Plc (UK), its exclusive partner in Kazakhstan, Central Asia and the Caspian region — Iteca Ltd., ITE Moscow (Russia), and GIMA (Germany).
Official support for the exhibition was provided by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KazMunayGas National Company OJSC, Almaty City Akimat, diplomatic missions of the participant countries, and leading mass media from Kazakhstan, the CIS and foreign countries.
This year's conference agenda included speeches by 60 top-level representatives from the Government of Kazakhstan and foreign countries, CEOs of major Kazakhstani and international companies. About 600 delegates took part in the two-day conference. The conference gathered a competent audience. Key speakers included Mr. V. S. Shkolnik, Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources; Mr. U. S. Karabalin, President of KazMunaiGas National Company OJSC; Sir Andrew Wood, Special Adviser to the British Prime Minister, etc.
Mrs. Dilyara Elzhassova, a GRATA Partner, presented GRATA Law Firm, a KIOGE Bronze Sponsor, at the Conference. She gave a speech entitled «Influence of the last amendments to Oil and Subsoil Law on Investors in Kazakhstan» in which an overview of the most significant innovations and also some indication of how they fit into existing Kazakh legislation were provided.
The topicality of the issue attracted attention of the participants who were provided unique opportunities to meet and discuss problems and prospects of development of the oil industry.
In a whole, the KIOGE-2005, just like in previous years, has promoted enhancement of co-operation among companies and government, scientists and experts, development of the industry and mutually advantageous co-operation.
