On 11 October 2006, GRATA held a general meeting to announce restructuring of the firm. Such restructuring reflects the necessity of the Company's continuing development, in general, and of the diversification of services, in particular.
Thus, GRATA's 3 Managing Partners, Messrs Tlek Baigabulov, Aidar Sarymsakov and Akhmetzhan Abdullayev appointed Mr. Rashid Gaissin to the position of Sector Managing Partner, and Ms. Lyaila Uzakova to Service Managing Partner.
Rashid Gaissin is a qualified Kazakh and English lawyer and has an LLM in Petroleum Law and Policy from Dundee University. Rashid is head of the Natural Resources department and a Partner of GRATA Law Firm.
Rashid advises on various oil and gas, mining, infrastructure and construction projects and on issues of corporate and banking law. He also supervises GRATA's relationships with other professional advisers.
Rashid is a member of the UK Energy Lawyers Group. He speaks English, Kazakh and Russian.
Lyaila Uzakova has a LL. B. from the Kazakh State Law University and is now a Managing Partner of the Firm. She has wide international experience and understanding of management issues, is highly regarded for her negotiation and practical skills in business and banking, international trade law, customs and currency regulations and interaction with governmental authorities. Lyaila coordinates GRATA's practice in Kazakhstan. She speaks English, Kazakh and Russian.
These appointments will help the Company to keep developing in 2 strategic ways: by improving the quality of services and enhancing the spectrum of services offered.
