Integration with the global capital markets

 

Rashid Gaissin, Managing Partner and Zhanara Iskhakova, Partner at GRATA Law firm took part in the Central Asian Investment Conference «Integration with the Global Capital markets», which was held on 1—2 February in the Intercontinental Hotel, Almaty.

This high profile Central Asian economic forum was organised by the London Stock Exchange in partnership with the Regional Financial Centre of Almaty.

Kazakhstan's vision is to become the financial centre of Central Asia, offering companies a diversified investment platform to raise equity finance on the national and international markets. The conference provided important cross-industry and cross-country dialogue on the potential opportunities for developing a Central Asian Financial Centre and providing a framework for accessing the Global Capital Markets. The conference also offered a wide range of discussion topics addressing Debt and Equity finance issues. It also looked closely at the current state of the local capital market and at the opportunities for foreign investors wishing to participate. As part of the IPO discussion theme, the conference analysed listing practises and business models used by KazMunaiGas Exploration and Production, KazakhGold and Kazakhmys (e. g. PLC, DR and Dual Listing) offering a practical information exchange between advisers and local companies preparing for an IPO.

Kazakhstani and foreign officials, national companies and development organisations, large local and foreign banks, investment funds, financial analysts and others were among the speakers and VIP guests at the Conference. In total, more than 250 delegates from the UK, EU, China, USA, Asia-Pacific, Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and other countries attended the Conference.

Following the Conference, a Round Table discussion took place. The theme of this was «Board of directors' efficiency in the creation and maintenance of the company's investment attraction.
