On April 4th, 2014 in the Supreme Court building in Astana a roundtable discussion on topical issues of customs and tax litigation took place.

The roundtable was organized by theInternational Tax and Investment Center (ITIC) and the Supreme Court of Astana. More than 60 delegatesparticipated, including representatives of major mining companies, judges of Atyrau, Mangistau, Aktobe regions, EKR, SKR, Astana, judges of the Supervisory Judicial board on civil and administrative cases of the Supreme Court, representatives of the Customs Control Committee and the Tax Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Welcoming statements were made by the chairman of the Supervisory Judicial board on civil and administrative cases of the Supreme Court, E. Abdykadyrov.

In her report, the Supreme Court Judge, Aygul Saparova, highlighted the impact and importance of tax law in terms of creating a favorable investment climate in the country, and, in this regard, how important it is for the judiciary to establish a consistent and coherent court practicefor reviewingtax litigation cases.

From GRATA Law Firm Galiya Makazhanova (Counsel, Supreme Court Justice retired)and Gabitzhan Kudaibergen (Lawyer)made a report and presentation. Luiza Dyussengaliyeva (Senior Lawyer), Almat Daumov (Partner) and Samat Daumov (Managing Partner) also actively participated.
