GRATA International participates in business events in Azerbaijan


In February 2017 Baku hosted a number of events, which were attended by lawyers of GRATA International. 

On February 6, two members of GRATA International team took part in AmCham Board of Directors pre-election meeting.

This was followed by the meeting of Caspian European Club (Сaspian Business Club) and Caspian American Club on February 8. The members of the clubs discussed problems faced by entrepreneurs of countries which have diplomatic missions functioning in Azerbaijan, issues concerning business doing in different regions of the country, as well as proposals on expansion of cooperation in different sectors of economy.

Following series of sessions on recent changes in tax legislation of Azerbaijan,  AmCham held a discussion on implementation of newly implemented tax provisions in banking/finance sector. Both tax and banking and finance committee members joined the meeting on February 17. 

On February 27-28 , US Embassy in Baku, Copyright Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a workshop aimed at raising SME owners’ awareness of IPR topics like copyrights, trademarks, and IP management. Two private-sector IP experts from the United States accompanied CLDP on this program. The experts introduced Azerbaijani small business owners to IP topics, as well as shared the US experience.

The workshop featured presentations, as well as practical and effective training through the use of country-specific case studies and interactive discussions.  This program represented the first in a series of workshops designed to support the government of Azerbaijan’s efforts to diversify its economy by encouraging the growth of SMEs. GRATA International in Azerbaijan was represented by junior Lawyer Shabnam Sadigova, who awarded with a Certificate.

In the same week, Anna Dreyzina, Lawyer of GRATA International in Azerbaijan, attended Business forum of Caspian European Club and Caspian American Club. The forum was held with the participation of Mr. Samir Nuriyev, Director of the State Housing Development Agency under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Mr.Samir Nuriyev presented information about the work of the Agency and its projects. Possible ways of cooperation with the private sector were also discussed at the meeting.
