Cyber Security Forum 2017 in Moscow
Yana Dianova, director of the Corporate and Commercial Law Department, GRATA International (Moscow office), took part in the Cyber Security Forum 2017 on 7 February 2017 in Moscow.
Antonina Priyezzheva, deputy head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) told about the main directions of their work and the Strategy of Information and Public Activities of Roskomnadzor as the competent authority for the period by 2020, having emphasised that special attention should be paid to protecting the rights of personal data subjects.
Yekaterina Larina, Director of the Department of State Policy in the Area of Mass Media at the Ministry of Communications of Russia, noted that the most important factor in cyber security is a conscious use of Internet services and an adequate level of users' understanding of all existing risks, and told about the work of the Ministry in this direction.
Andrei Vorobyov, Director of the Coordination Centre of Domains .RU/.RF, named several key cyber security trends, in particular, the increasing state involvement in initiatives to regulate the Internet, activity of relevant agencies and significant attention being paid to the fight against illegal content on the part of state organisations, public and businesses, as well as to enhancing digital literacy.
As a part of Cyber Security Forum, Microsoft for the first time presented the rating of countries by digital culture - Digital Civility Index (DCI). According to Microsoft research data, about 75% of Russian citizens faced with Internet risks at least once in their lives.
The round-tables discussions covered recent changes in the regulation of information security and protection of personal data, in particular, the 'Yarovaya Package' and a draft federal law on the Big Data being developed, as well as the peculiarities of the inspections by Roskomnadzor of personal data operators.
