Previous career:

  • Andrew Gamble was a partner in Hogan Lovells and its predecessor firms for 32 years during which time he held positions as Head of the International Banking Practice, London Regional Managing Partner and Head of the Africa Practice. He was principally based in the London office but spent time in the Frankfurt office following the merger with a German law firm. He was instrumental in the establishment of a number of the firm’s offices outside of London. He served on the International Management and Executive Committees.

Professional Background:

  • Throughout his career, Andrew Gamble has worked within the banking and corporate finance area.  Over the past 25 years he has been heavily involved in international finance, acting both for borrowers and bank syndicates.  This work has entailed advising banks and structuring financings for the benefit of entities in CIS, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.  Andrew has also led the teams acting for the Governments of Sierra Leone, Guyana, Mozambique and Ethiopia in the implementation of their World Bank / International Development Association sponsored debt reduction programmers.  He has advised the Government of Nigeria on its Paris Club and London Club Debt.  Mr. Gamble was retained by the Government and Central Bank of Ghana to devise, and successfully implement, the issue of inflation index linked government bonds. Andrew has worked with multi-lateral agencies such as the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the African Export-Import Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
  • Mr. Andrew Gamble has also acted for the British Government in the sale and securitization (by way of sterling bond issue on the international markets) of in excess of £2 billion in loans to the higher education sector. He was a member of the Sovereign Debt Scoping Forum of the Financial Markets Law Committee.
