Headed the general corporate, M&A, anti-trust and employment practice of the firm (comprising a team of 6 lawyers); acted as a leading partner on numerous high-profile M&A transactions both on a seller’s and a buyer’s sides; represented a number of foreign investors in connection with creation of joint ventures with Kazakh partners (in particular, with state-owned companies); handled statutory anti-trust filings and investigations relating to cartel agreements; advised clients on a variety of Kazakh corporate and labor law issues; represented clients in employment litigation cases (especially, on unfair dismissal and discrimination claims)

Bolat has extensive experience in the banking and finance sector, where he has advised on matters concerning debt capital markets, cross-border financing transactions, trade finance, syndicated loans and securities transactions. He has also significant experience in corporate secretary and compliance matters, Kazakh corporate law and M&A transactions.

Drafted transaction documentation and handled negotiations on the acquisition by International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) of 12% stake in CenterCredit Bank (Kazakhstan) and extension of a subordinated loan.
- Acted for China Investment Corporation, a Chinese sovereign investment fund, in connection with the acquisition of GDRs, representing 11% stake in KazMunaiGas EP, a Kazakh oil and gas company listed at the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
- Represented Punjab National Bank, the second largest state-owned bank, in connection with the acquisition of Dana Bank (Kazakhstan) from a group of private Kazakh investors.
