In 2007, Samat graduated from the Almaty Academy of Law of the Kazakh Humanitarian Law University with honours, and then received a degree in management in the Kazakh-Russian University.
From January to June 2008 Samat took a language course at Margate Language Centre, UK.
In 2011, Samat graduated from Kazakh Humanitarian Law University with honours and received an academic degree - Master of Laws.
Samat has attended many seminars, and in 2008 had an internship in an international law firm in the UK.
He is fluent in Russian and English.
Samat has gained extensive experience in corporate and commercial issues in oil-and-gas and other sectors. He has represented many major international and Kazakhstani clients.
Samat has substantial experience, which includes advising leading companies through the preparation of memorandums on various legal issues and contracts including petroleum and petroleum products sale contracts, goods, supplies and rent. Samat has further experience in conducting due diligence of individual transactions and entities and reviewing contracts for compliance with legal requirements. In 2010 he actively participated in the development of Kazakhstani subsoil legislation.
Samat often attends and reports at various international conferences and has a number of publications.
Samat is a member of the Kazakh Petroleum Lawyers Association, Board of Commercial Lawyers, Working Group on Oil and Gas of the Foreign Investors' Council and Kazakhstani Service Companies Union, as well as an attorney for the Austrian Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan and a regular participant in many business clubs at foreign embassies.
