KIOGE - 2008

KIOGE - 2008On October 7-10, 2008 in Almaty (Kazakhstan) hosted the 16th Kazakhstan International “Oil & Gas” Exhibition and Conference, KIOGE – 2008, one of the major events in the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The event was organised by the international exhibition company ITE Group Plc (UK), its exclusive partner in Kazakhstan and Central Asia - Iteca LLP., ITE LLC Moscow (Russia) and GIMA (Germany). Official support for the exhibition was provided by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KazMunaiGas National Company JSC, Almaty City Akimat, European Commission to the Republic of Kazakhstan, The Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan, EUROBAK, American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan, diplomatic missions of the participant countries, and the leading mass media from Kazakhstan, the CIS and foreign countries.

The exhibition at the Atakent Exhibition Centre featured over 550 companies from 30 countries and occupied with a total area of 25,000 square metres. More than 15,000 oil and gas industry professionals visited the exhibition this year. The conference took place in The InterContinental Almaty, The Ankara Kazakhstan Hotel and was attended by more than 1,000 delegates. Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom were represented with collective national stands. Reports were presented by representatives from governments and businesses from Kazakhstan, US, Russia, UK, Norway and others. Senior managers from 40 oil and gas companies also discussed various aspects of the industry.

Mr.Almat Daumov, Partner and Head of “Tax Law” Department in GRATA, introduced GRATA Law Firm at the Conference. He gave a speech entitled «New Tax Code: subsoil use taxation» in which an overview of the taxation of subsoil users today, taxation of subsoil users from 1 January 2009, issues of contradictory calculation of coefficient of tax burden for subsoil users and stability of tax regime were provided. The topicality of the issue attracted attention of the participants who were provided unique opportunities to meet and discuss problems and prospects of development of the oil industry.





Moreover, GRATA managers took active part in the Conference.
