Before joining GRATA in 2005, Marat worked as in-house counsel for many oil companies, including LUKOIL Overseas (in their Astana office), Nelson Resources and JSC Kazakh Oil – a National Oil & Gas company.
Marat is a member of the English-Russian Law Association.
Education
Marat received his LLB in 1992 from the Kazakh State University imena Al-Farabi. He also holds an LLM in Banking and Finance law, which he received from the University of Boston in 2003. Marat is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, after taking a course in Vienna in February 2005.
Marat has significant experience of working as in-house counsel, where he handled contract and compliance issues.
Marat speaks Kazakh, Russian and English.
