Shaimerden Chikanayev, Partner at “GRATA” Law Firm took part at the Kazakhstan Issuers Forum on "Financing strategies during the crisis and after", held in Almaty at the hotel «Holiday Inn Almaty » on October 21-22, 2009. The Forum was organized with the support of the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan and the Council of issuers to the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Regulation and Supervision of Financial Market and Financial Institutions. Shaimerden Chikanayev, Partner at “GRATA” Law Firm took part at the Kazakhstan Issuers Forum on "Financing strategies during the crisis and after", held in Almaty at the hotel «Holiday Inn Almaty » on October 21-22, 2009. The Forum was organized with the support of the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan and the Council of issuers to the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Regulation and Supervision of Financial Market and Financial Institutions. The strategic partner was JSC «Centras Securities».

The Forum drew the attendance of the owners and managers of large enterprises, representatives of government authorized agencies, representatives of institutional and individual investors and representatives of legal and consulting companies. The Forum covered such topics as the role of government in the financial sector in the post-crisis period, the sources of funding for the real sector of economy, bankruptcy and business restructuring during the crisis, corporate governance in Kazakhstan, the role of national rating agencies and others. The final step of the forum was a master-class by an international consultant on risk management, Hakan Kayganachi, Executive Director, Marsh Risk Consulting.

The speakers at the event were: A. Aldambergen, deputy chairman of Kazakhstan Agency for Regulation and Supervision of Financial Market and Financial Institutions; B. Tutushkin, Deputy Director of Research and Statistics, National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, N. Alimuhambetov, Chairman of the Union members of the pension system of the Repubic of Kazakhstan; M. Amirbekov, Chairman of the Board, Centras Securities; B. Kantarbaev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on work with insolvent debtors of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan; G. Kopbasarova, Director of the Center of corporate governance and business ethics at the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan and others.

On behalf of GRATA Shaimerden Chikanaev made a speech on the topics:
1. Restructuring obligations of Kazakhstani banks under the court decision: the possible risks for lenders.
2. Changes in the Kazakhstani legislation on combating of money laundering. Risks to the business.
 
Holding of the Kazakhstan Issuers Forum contributed to active discussion of the most relevant points raised in the crisis and post-crisis period in the economy.
