Russian and Eastern European Insurance Markets: Do They Actually Exist?

Russian and Eastern European Insurance Markets: Do They Actually Exist?Otabek Suleimanov, a Senior Lawyer at GRATA’s Tashkent Office, gave a speech at a recent seminar entitled ‘Russian and Eastern European Insurance Markets: Do They Actually Exist?’ The seminar was held on the 3rd of March 2010 and was organised by OAKESHOTT Insurance in London.

The goal of the seminar was to provide an update on the present legal, insurance and financial situations in Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and to discuss most of the practical issues relating to work in the region. The idea was not to overburden the participants with figures, but to give them a vivid picture of the companies and people in place across the borders.

Among the speakers were George Grishin and Katherina Grishina of OAKESHOTT Insurance.

Otabek Suleimanov, one of the leading insurance lawyers in the region, presented a unique talk entitled ‘Energy Insurance – A Legal Regional Overview’.

The seminar was attended by over 100 insurers, brokers, reinsurers, lawyers and bankers to encourage them to think positively about business in the former Soviet Union.

The seminar presented a unique opportunity to share practical experiences and effective strategies and to establish new contacts with partners, colleagues and clients.
